Governor Herbert announced today a state-wide school dismissal for the next two weeks as a preemptive measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Learning will still happen, but students will not be physically attending classes beginning Monday, March 16, 2020.
Middle and high school students need to check their school email everyday to receive official communication. Faculty may also communicate online through Canvas, Google Classroom or Nearpod. Parent/guardian will receive information from teachers through whatever means they have been communicating throughout the year. Do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher if you have questions.
The schedule for the next two weeks will be as follows:
Monday and Tuesday (March 16-17) will be professional learning days for faculty to prepare online learning materials and communicate with students and parents.
Wednesday and Thursday (March 18-19) will be online/packet school days. Expectations will be communicated from your child's teacher. Week one packets were sent home today with students of South Summit Elementary School. Thursday is the end of the term. There will be no school Friday, March 20, 2020.
Monday - Friday (March 23-27) will be online/packet school days. Expectations will be communicated from your child's teacher.
Please notify the school principal immediately if your child does not have access to a computer/ipad and/or internet to complete their online learning assignments.
We are all embarking on new territory of providing enriching learning experiences outside of the classroom. Please be professional and courteous with staff and your children as we work together. We know there will be hurdles, but through effective communication and exercising patience we will be successful. I believe this experience will be beneficial in transforming education.
