*School Safety Week* This week, April 15-19, South Summit School District is recognizing School Safety Week. Throughout the week, we will focus on our emergency prevention and response efforts. Mrs. Small's Sewing Construction and Textiles class has been busy learning new skills and making a big difference in some little lives. The class recently sewed more than 80 baby blankets to donate to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Primary Children's Hospital. We know that we have some amazingly talented students in our schools. But it's always nice when the judges agree with us. Our Music Department recently competed in Region events. Ellis Leary performed in the Piano Solo Event and Ivy Jackson performed in the Instrumental Woodwind Solo Event (accompanied by Ellis Leary). They both qualified to perform at the UHSAA State Solo and Ensemble!! Additionally, our Tapestry, who performed in the Chamber Choir Event qualified as well. Congratulations, students and directors-Mr. Beal and Mr. Scribner! That is truly music to our ears!

It was a big week for Braxten last week. Not only did he win Sterling Scholar, he won the Western Ag scholarship and...he was named the Utah FFA State President! Congratulations, Braxten! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #SouthSummitFFA #UTFFA

Celebrating School Social Work Week! Shoutout to the incredible school social workers who bring their expertise and unique educational background to our schools. They help create a positive and inclusive environment for students. Their presence contributes to the holistic development and well-being of students and strengthens the overall effectiveness of our school community. We're so happy to have Detective Stewart join the South Summit family. He spends his days getting to know the students at each school. At first some of the kids were a little concerned as to why there was a "policeman" at the school all the time. Now they know he's here to help keep them safe--and to even have a little fun with them. #WeAreSouthSummit #UTPublicEd #SRODay #SummitCounty

Our very own Brysen proved to be the best clay target shooter in his division in the nation. At the recent annual USA Clay Target League competition he placed first overall with a score of 24.1 (25 being the best). That's with 49,000 kids competing. The South Summit Trap Shooting Team led by Coach Neil Creer, finished second in the nation out of 198 teams. Peyton finished the season with the high overall average in the ladies division. The USA Clay Target League is designed for kids who live in rural areas. They go to their local gun club each week and shoot with their team and then their coach posts their scores online. The South Summit team shoots at the local Lions Gun Club, where Shane McMillan helps them out. #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #TrapShooting #PullUSA #LionsClub
