The SSHS Interact Club has been busy lately. Last week they spent an afternoon at St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall preparing 400 sandwiches. They were then able to help serve the evening's meal to homeless individuals and people in need. Ms. Regan does an incredible job of giving our students opportunities to discover the power of Service above Self, as they develop leadership skills through this extension of the Rotary Club. #SSHSWildcats #InteractClub #CCSUtah

Braxten Blazzard feels just as at home on the range as he does actually at home. He got the high honor of being selected to attend the 77th annual meeting of the Society for Range Management (SRM). As a High School delegate, Braxten participated in the High School Youth Forum (HSYF) where he met people from different countries and learned more about the international organization. Another activity that was part of the Forum was the paper presentation competition. A panel of judges deems the top five papers and recognizes the writers at an awards ceremony. Congrats to Braxten for winning one of those top five spots with your paper presentation. #WeAreSouthSummit #SRMHSYF #Rangelands

SSHS student Dayton is known as Dayton Fry the Science Guy to the fourth graders at South Summit Elementary School. That's because he has been sharing his love of science with them for the past month. Dayton is South Summit High School's Sterling Scholar representative in the Science category. He's always loved science and even made it to the state level science fair in 6th grade. Science can seem a little intimidating for some kids and Dayton wanted to show them how fun it can be. These fourth grade students had a blast making bubbles and lava lamps with Dayton Fry the Science Guy! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #SSElemWildcats #UTPublicEd

Exciting Update from South Summit High School! Students completed QPR suicide prevention training—learning to Question, Persuade, and Refer to support mental health. 🧠💙 Special thanks to our school psychologist and social worker for bringing this important information to our school. It takes all of us to break the silence and create a caring community. Together, we make a difference! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #SuicidePrevention #QPRTraining #MentalHealthMatters

Just a little recognition to our amazing Freshmen! In one of their classes, students get to work on puzzles if they are all caught up on their work. You won't believe how fast they can complete a 1000-piece puzzle. Already this year, the freshman have completed 10 puzzles. This year's freshman completed this lego emoji puzzle in just over three weeks. IT IS HARD!!! It took patience, teamwork, multiple sorting skills, and perseverance to complete it. Way to go, freshmen! #WeAreSouthSummit #SSHSWildcats #ClassOf2027

Nurse Amanda came to South Summit the year of Covid. Of course, she didn't know what was coming, none of us did. She says, "Nursing can be challenging but I love learning and being able to make a difference in people's lives." She also loves being able to work in the schools that her children attend and getting to know their friends. She has four kids who are involved in dance and soccer. Amanda and her family moved to the Kamas valley four years ago. They spend time exploring the outdoors, fishing and hiking. They feel lucky to live somewhere so beautiful with such great people. She says her favorite thing about South Summit is the community, "Everyone has been so kind and welcoming to our family. I love all of the small town traditions like homecoming week and the choreographed promenade dance for prom." Amanda also likes to read and paint. And she started and continues to volunteer at the Kamas Food Pantry every Wednesday behind the South Summit Elementary School. Thanks for being an amazing asset to our schools and community, Amanda. #WeAreSouthSummit #StaffShoutout #SchoolNurseAppreciationDay2023 #SND2023

"I love being a lunch lady mostly because of the great ladies and people I work with. I have always been able to count on them in rough times. This is the best job for a mom. I loved being home when my kids were and having the summers together, " Brenda says. South Summit is her alma mater and she loves it. So when she got hired she was so happy and plans to finish out her career here. She loves the school, loves her gigs in the Lunch Lady Lunatic videos--can you tell? And, Brenda says she is proud to be from Kamas. Brenda is a mom of three boys and one girl and in her spare time she's usually babysitting her two grandsons (7 and 4) or hanging out with her sister Lori and friend Connie. This summer, watch for her long awaited performance in the Fiesta Days Melodrama! #WeAreSouthSummit #StaffShoutout #SouthSummitMiddle #SLHD23 #SchoolLunchHeroes
